New Learn2Run and Beer Gut Gone courses starting in January 2010, click here for more information

Welcome to Woodthorpe Huffers and Puffers Running Club website!

If you've never run before, you've tried to run but never quite got going, or you're a regular jogger who fancies some company then we're the group for you!

We are all ages and all shapes and sizes. We think that with the right support, anyone can learn to run..... we know because most of us couldn't run for more than 1 minute when we started!

ManRunningTrimmed

If you can already run 2 miles in 25 minutes then come down on our Wednesday Club night at 6:15pm, Monday at 7pm or Saturday morning at 9am. All sessions start from Thackeray's Lane Park next to the Vale pub in Woodthorpe.

Our 'Learn to Run' courses have been so successful that we will be delivering five courses at different venues in the Borough in conjunction with Gedling Borough Council  in the New Year. The 'Learn to Run' courses are led by qualified jog leaders and follow a gentle walk/run programme and they cost just  £10 for 10 weeks - you can attend as many sessions as you like in a week. We are even planning a men's only session!!! More information will be available on this website in December, if you'd like to know more call Cathy on  0115 920 6577

What our members say….

‘I was a couch potato before I joined the huffers & puffers. Everyone looks ‘normal’ and we’re all encouraged no matter how good we are. I ran the Twiggy & Emma 5km and am doing the Race for Life in June!’   Margaret, 48

‘I never thought I’d be able to run non-stop…. I’ve never done any exercise before! But the sessions started with walk/running, moved up very gradually and I got loads of support from other members. 8 weeks on I can run 2 miles!’   Clare, 45

‘I trained for Race for Life last year, ran the whole thing and then struggled to keep up my training on my own. I joined the huffers and puffers and now run a couple of times a week.10 of us have even decided to train for the Robin Hood Half Marathon’. Jane, 30
